Diana Sorrentino Dianna Sorrentino grew up in South Philadelphia with a large Italian family. As a senior in high school she was accepted into Johnson and Wales University with a full scholarship but opted to pay her way through college by staying true to her roots and attending The Art Institute of Philadelphia. Dianna graduated top of her class in 2002 with an Associate of Science Degree in Culinary Arts. She then decided to go back to AIPH to get her Baking and Pastry Diploma and again graduated top of her class in 2005. Finally in 2007 she decided to return to school and get her Bachelor of Science degree in Restaurant and Culinary Management. During her schooling Dianna received many awards including Best Young Culinarian, Best Portfolio and maintaining a 4.0 GPA all through her schooling. During the past 12 years, Dianna has worked alongside some of the best chefs, including Guillermo Pernot at Pasión, Guillermo Veloso at Cuba Libre, and Roberta Adamo and Eileen Watkin at Penne Restaurant. At the age of 20, Dianna became the youngest kitchen manager to work at Chickie’s & Pete’s South Philly. For 8 years, Dianna assisted in the daily kitchen operations of the popular 200-seat sports bar. In 2010, Dianna opened The Refinery in Philadelphia’s first casino, Sugar House Casino. For two years she was the assistant restaurant manager before venturing to Brodo in early 2012. At Brodo, Dianna is currently the Restaurant Manager/Executive Chef alongside father and son duo, Robert and Matthew Capetola.
