Meet Evey Bell: 7-Year-Old Celiac and Type 1 Diabetic

8/19/2010

Evey Bell is just like other 7-year-olds, except she has Type 1 diabetes and celiac disease—two conditions research has found to be linked.  In this video, get a staggering glimpse of Evey’s life, including the eight shots she receives every day.

Evey’s mom, Donna Bell, was also diagnosed with celiac disease. She has been a celiac awareness advocate ever since. Among her accomplishments, Donna started a support group for parents of children with celiac disease and Type 1 diabetes and organized Team Celiac for the annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Walk to Cure Diabetes. Read her story and learn about the difference she’s made as an NFCA volunteer.
