These celebs gave up gluten due to celiac disease or a food allergy.
Gluten-free is quickly becoming the diet of choice among celebrities, but some gave up gluten long before the buzz. They didn’t do it to set a trend; instead, their dietary change was for medical reasons—to treat celiac disease or avoid an allergic reaction.
- “True Blood” star Deborah Ann Woll noted that she has celiac disease in an interview with ContactMusic.com.
- Scott Michael Foster, of ABC Family’s “Greek,” told People he is allergic to gluten and has cut wheat and flour out of his diet.
- Dean McDermott, best known for the reality show “Tori and Dean,” which documents his marriage to Tori Spelling, tweeted in December 2009 that he has celiac disease.
- Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson adopted a gluten-free diet after being diagnosed with celiac disease, according to NBC Chicago.
