Celiac Consensus Meeting: June 28-30, 2004 marks a first –ever event: a Celiac Consensus Meeting in Bethesda MD at the National Institutes of Health, bringing together celiac experts to discuss the state of the disease in 2004: prevalence, research, awareness, education, treatment, etc. The final day of this conference will also include a question and answer session open to the public. Take Action: Educate your Congressional Representative about celiac disease and the need to support a Food Allergen Labeling bill. Food Allergen Labeling Update: On March 8th, the Senate unanimously passed S.741, which includes the “Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act”. Due to the hard work of Senators Judd Gregg, and Edward Kennedy this bipartisan bill is on its way to the House of Representatives. According to the Delphi Celiac forum, letters to Congress topped 10,000. In the House, H.R. 3684, the "Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act" has been referred to the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health. It currently has 27 cosponsors.
