I was diagnosed with celiac November 5, 1981. I was 5'7" and weighed
only 92 lbs. I owned a pre-school in Milwaukee, WI and had to
sell it because I was so ill. I wrote to the Milwaukee newspaper
and asked for others with this problem to contact me and a support
group was formed that today has over 200 members. Now I live in
Lafayette,IN and I have seen gluten-free food evolve over the
years. I absolutely LOVE going to Outback to eat. I have a
support group here with 75 members and growing. I give a workshop
for the dietitians graduating from Purdue University in the
spring. This year there are 15 of them. I was interviewed
by a member of a support group in Finland and the article can be seen
if you type in my name under GOOGLE. I think what you are doing
getting the word out to people is great.
