The LPGA Championship Sponsored by Wegmans
Sarah Jane Smith, LPGA player and NFCA Athletes for Awareness, played fabulously last week at the LPGA Championship presented by Wegmans. This was the first time that Sarah made the cut in a major event. The championship was the second LPGA major this season, and was held at Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, New York. Smith found herself in fourteenth place with a final score of 69 - three under par.
NFCA made the trip up to Rochester, NY to cheer her on, and because of Sarah’s excellent performance, she has earned herself the honorable invitation to the 2010 Ladies British Open Tournament. Congratulations, Sarah!
Wegmans not only played host to the 2010 LPGA Championship, but they sponsor NFCA as well! They chose to sponsor the golf tournament because “It is the combination of the world's best golfers, the most enthusiastic of crowds and the spirit of our volunteers that join together to raise funds to provide a lasting benefit to children in need in our community.” A generous company, giving to so many wonderful causes.
