NFCA Joins United Effort on Gluten-Free Labeling

8/19/2011

The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA) is encouraging the celiac and gluten-free community to join a united response to the FDA’s proposed gluten-free labeling rule.

In an email to NFCA constituents, NFCA Founder & President Alice Bast and the NFCA staff stated:

When the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA) first learned that the FDA would be re-opening the comment period, we, along with other key stakeholders in the celiac and gluten-free community, knew that it would be important to submit comments and suggestions in unison. We also knew that it would be important to arm the patient and consumer communities with the resources necessary for them to make an informed decision.

The NFCA team urged celiac and gluten-free supporters to sign a letter to the FDA posted on consumer advocacy site 1in133.org. The letter speaks on behalf of celiac and gluten-free needs, and is a simple way for the community to ensure its voice is heard, the email noted.

Individuals who wish to join the effort and sign the letter are also encouraged to list “National Foundation for Celiac Awareness” under the “Organization” heading.
