NFCA Experts Chat About Celiac Disease

9/8/2010

On Sept. 1, Tina Turbin, author of the Danny the Dragon book series and regular contributor to NFCA’s online newsletter, spoke with Dan Leffler, MD, MS, and Melinda Dennis, MS, RD, LDN, on “Thrive in Balance,” a Blog Talk Radio show.

The trio discussed celiac disease, gluten and the new book Real Life With Celiac Disease, which Dr. Leffler and Dennis co-authored.

Dr. Leffler and Dennis are no strangers to celiac disease or the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA). The two are founding members of the Celiac Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston, where Dr. Leffler currently serves as director of clinical research and Dennis serves as nutrition coordinator.

At NFCA, Dr. Leffler sits on the Scientific/Medical Advisory Board and played a key role in the development of NFCA’s Celiac CME for primary care physicians. Dennis shares her expertise in “Ask the Dietitian,” the NFCA’s weekly nutrition Q&A.
