Free NFCA Webinar: Live Q&A with Gluten-Free College Students and Grads

We managed celiac disease in college and you can too!

NFCA is excited to announce a different format for this year’s annual college webinar – a live panel discussion featuring the gluten-free experiences and opinions of young adults who have walked unique paths on their journeys of celiac disease management. This new format will allow for viewer driven content during a live question and answer period. Attendees will also benefit from access to key resources and about common concerns faced by the college population.

NFCA encourages the following audiences to tune in:

  • High school students looking at college or alternative options after graduation
  • Current college students
  • Parents of gluten-free students
  • College administrators
  • College foodservice staff
  • Residence life staff
  • Friends of those with celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity (‘gluten sensitivity’)

About the Panelists

Drawing from their personal experiences with celiac disease, the following panelists will speak:

Priyanka Chugh, MS; Producer of Adventures of Anti-Wheat Girl

Priyanka Chugh Priyanka was diagnosed with celiac disease 10 years ago and has been involved with celiac disease education and advocacy efforts ever since. Priyanka is the creator of the celiac disease blog, The Adventures of Anti-Wheat Girl, and volunteers with numerous celiac disease organizations, mainly with the Celiac Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Priyanka recently graduated with a B.A. in Psychology with minors in Chemistry, Child/Adolescent Mental Health Studies, and Public Health with a pre-med concentration from New York University in 2013 and an M.S. in Biotechnology with a Health Science Intensive concentration from Johns Hopkins University in 2014.

Brandon Meck
Brandon Meck is a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in mathematics and minoring in computer science. He was diagnosed with celiac disease about two years ago. He is also the Vice President of the University of Pittsburgh’s gluten-free group known as the Gluten-Free Awareness League.


Rachel Rieger, NFCA Patient Education Manager; 2014 graduate from College of Wooster

As Patient Education Manager, Rachel Rieger’s responsibilities include webinar planning and implementation, as well as some forthcoming initiatives to better understand patient needs. She graduated from the College of Wooster in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, with a special focus on Health Communication. There, she worked closely with foodservice staff to help them better understand the needs of someone afflicted with celiac disease, and wrote a senior thesis on a self-designed health campaign to raise awareness for celiac disease on campus. Rachel also interned for The Chronicle Telegram in 2012, through which she wrote a bi-weekly column on the gluten-free lifestyle. As someone who has been managing celiac disease for nine years, working with NFCA has given Rachel the opportunity to fulfill her lifelong goal of raising awareness and changing the landscape of celiac disease research.
