Miley Cyrus Reveals “Gluten Allergy” on Twitter

Former “Hannah Montana” star tweeted fans about being gluten-free.

Actress Miley Cyrus is the latest celebrity to go gluten-free. The former Disney Channel star tweeted that she has “a gluten and lactose allergy” on April 8 in response to accusations of an eating disorder.

“It’s not about weight it’s about health,” she tweeted.

The actress, best known for her role on the kids show “Hannah Montana,” encouraged everyone to try going gluten-free for a week. “The change in your skin, phyisical and mental health is amazing! U won’t go back!” she tweeted.

The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA) urges anyone considering a gluten-free diet to get tested for celiac disease before going gluten-free.Eliminating gluten before testing can affect the accuracy of test results. Celiac disease has a genetic basis, so a proper diagnosis is critical not only for the individual, but also to know whether family members may be at risk.
