Alyssa's Story


I am a 16-year-old junior in high school. For the past few years, I have had endless digestive problems. At first, doctors thought there was a problem with my liver, then my kidneys and colon. I did multiple detoxes, including ones for my liver and colon. Also, since 7th grade I have been diagnosed with another autoimmune disease called Alopecia Areata.

Getting no results from any of these treatments, my doctor decided to go over all my symptoms and try testing for some allergies. Some of my symptoms were: hair loss, horrible stomach pain, no energy, headaches, late onset of puberty, and lack of growth throughout my teenage years.

Finally, my doctor tested me for a wheat allergy, which was positive. He asked me to go on a gluten-free diet for a month and then test again to see what the results were. After a month of no wheat, gluten, or MSG, I am feeling amazing! I have high energy all the time, am gaining weight, and my hair is even growing back.

My doctor said I have celiac, explained everything it does and said the only treatment is to stay on this gluten-free diet for the rest of my life. If I'm going to feel this good from now on, it is more than worth it!
