Gluten-Free Cooking Spree: Celiac Awareness is on the Menu
Join the fun, watch cooks compete and raise awareness for celiac disease!
Drexel University and the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA) are joining forces to bring you a fabulous evening of delicious gluten-free hors d'oeurves, desserts, wine and other beverages plus a look at the world of gluten-free cooking.
Prominent Philadelphia Area doctors will partner with Drexel University Culinary Arts students to compete in developing gluten-free recipes and preparing the delicious results.
Party-goers will have a terrific opportunity to go behind the scenes and into Drexel's Test Kitchens to watch these doctor-student teams as they prepare their dishes for the competition.
Two celebrity food experts will judge the gluten-free cooking competition:
- Chef Georges Perrier of Le Bec-Fin, Georges' and Brasserie
Perrier
- Christina Pirello, macrobiotic chef, host of public television’s Christina
Cooks and author of Cooking the Whole Foods Way and Christina Cooks:
Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Whole Foods But Were
Afraid to Ask
Guests will have the chance to watch the teams as they prepare their entries.
This event is hosted by the Drexel University Department of Hospitality Studies led by Chef Francis McFadden, Assistant Dean of the Goodwin School of Professional Studies.
The Drexel School of Public Health under the leadership of Dean Marl Gold, M.D. is supporting the cook-off.
The co-chairs are Debra Brady and Marla Gold.
